I wasn’t sure if I should share this post because it’s giving away one of my biggest secrets but as anyone who knows me will be aware, my random hidden talent is that I can make seriously good flapjacks! And since F1 Club especially wouldn’t be the same without them, I thought I should probably share the recipe so people can make them at home. SO…

First step- ask your parents or an adult’s permission to use the kitchen!! And make sure someone is there to supervise. And once you’ve made absolutely sure it’s OK, you will need 500g oats, 250g butter or margarine, 250g sugar and a squeeze of honey or golden syrup as well as a baking tin to cook them in.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Melt the butter and sugar in a saucepan over a LOW heat, then add the honey and stir. When it’s all liquid and melted together, let it cool a bit and put the oats in a big mixing bowl. Pour the melted butter mixture over the oats and mix with a wooden spoon until it’s all mixed together. Press it into a baking tin and put into the oven for 10-15 minutes- until it’s just turning golden brown. Don’t overcook!!

Now is the REALLY important part which makes the flapjacks extra gooey and awesome. Let them cool in the tin for a while (usually a couple of hours) then start to cut them into pieces- STILL IN THE TIN. Put the cooled tin of flapjacks in the fridge for a few hours or overnight if possible. This lets the sugar crystallise and makes them super yummy. THEN you can eat them 🙂 preferably while watching F1 on YouTube and doing some colouring!
